On Wednesday, April 16, NYSDEC and the Land Trust Alliance announced the grant awards for the 2008 Conservation Partnership Program. THTLT received the largest grant ever awarded since the programs inception in 2002, receiving a 57,000 two-year grant for professional development. THTLT is hiring Carol Hutchinson as the Outreach Coordinator for our organization. Carol has a strong background in sales and marketing and as those who met her at our annual dinner have experienced, an effervescent personality. "She has a real passion for the environment and the ability and desire to effectively communicate our conservation efforts to engage others in our work. Our organization has been overwhelmed by the interest in conservation, and Carol will not only help with the work load, but will help us get the word out about all the great things that are happening."
DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis joined members of the New York State Legislature and local land trust representatives in announcing 52 grants totaling $825,000 to 40 local and regional land trust organizations across New York State. This year's land trust grant awards represent an unprecedented investment in New York's land trusts that will help make New York's communities better places to live and work.
