The Wiliams farm is the last operating dairy farm in the Town of Pinckney, an area once known for its large dairy farm industry and cheese factories. In 1998, Charles Williams donated conservation easements on the farm and surrounding lands totaling over 600 acres. Mr. Williams' sister, Joan, was an active member of the land trust's board of directors until her death in 1997.
The protcetive agreements conserve productive agricultural lands in order to facilitate active and economically viable farm use of the property, while preventing any use that would significantly impair or interfere with the land's conservation values.
