In 2001, the Weiman Property was the first property in the East Branch of Fish Creek watershed that was protected by an easement by THTLT. The East Branch of Fish Creek flows through the property, which is over 400 acres. The Weiman Family operated a farm on this property in the first half of this century. Mr. Weiman's father grew up on the farm, and remainders of the old homestead and farm buildings can be seen opposite the current camp across Sweeney Road. This easement was THTLT's first bargain sale, meaning the Weiman's sold the easement to us at a fraction of the actual value.
Funding for the purchase came in part from the Iroquois Pipeline's Land Enhancement and Acquisition Fund and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. As part of the negotiations, a trail was created which provides public access to existing NYSDEC fishing rights on the East Branch of Fish Creek.
