PETTIT EASEMENT

Early in 2008, THTLT completed conservation easements with Rose Pettit and her son Brad, which cover over 224 acres in three parcels with high quality water resources in the Town of Greig, Lewis County. The largest parcel is a 186.8 acre woodlot which is actually located in the Adirondack Park and has all or portions of seven regulated wetlands as well as Bollins Creek and Fish Creek which are NYS DEC classified trout spawning streams.

The remaining parcels are divided by Sweeeny Road and contain the Pettit homestead. The majority of the property is forested with Abbey's Creek (aka Tannery Creek), a NYS DEC classified trout spawning creek, flowing through. The easement limits development while allowing for sustainable forest management. Although these easements are outside of THTLT's traditional service area, we occasionally take on projects that have high conservation value and no other organizations are available to take on the project.
